Abstract
According to the ECtHR Press Release:
In today's Chamber judgment in the case Rahimi v. Greece (application no. 8687/08),
which is not final1, the European Court of Human Rights held unanimously that there had
been:
A violation of Article 3 (prohibition of inhuman or degrading treatment), Article
13 (right to an effective remedy) and Article 5 § § 1 and 4 (right to liberty and
security) of the European Convention on Human Rights.
The case concerned the conditions in which a minor, a migrant from Afghanistan, who
had entered Greece illegally, was held in the Pagani detention centre on the island of
Lesbos and subsequently released with a view to his expulsion.
