The applicant, Moroccan national has applied for asylum in the Netherlands and alleged threats and criticism due to his activities on social media, by posting his music. The State Secretary rejected the application as unfounded as it considered that the elements of the asylum story were not credible. Moreover the determining authority ruled that Morocco is a safe country of origin and the applicant failed to demonstrate why his country would not be safe in his case.

The Court of the Hague rejected the appeal, considering his allegations not demonstrated. The Court reiterated that national authorities have reassessed on 6 May 2015 Morocco as being safe, and retained the designation as a safe country of origin. The Court mentioned that if the applicant would experience problems in Morocco after his return, he can rightly address and complain before national authorities there. The fact that there is corruption in Morocco does not mean that the applicant cannot complain to the (higher) authorities if he encounters problems, nor does it mean that the authorities are unwilling or unable to help him.
